About the Awards

The additional award schemes do differ between England, Wales and Scotland. For example, Visit England offer Gold and Silver Awards to their Hotel and Guest Accommodation, whereas Visit Wales and Visit Scotland only offer Gold.

In the self-catering sector, the Gold Award applies to English properties only - no award schemes exist for self-catering accommodation in either Wales or Scotland.

England

Visit England Gold and Silver Awards are given to Hotels and Guest Accommodation (and Gold only for Self-Catering) that provide exceptional quality in all areas, in particular in service and hospitality. Breakfast Awards are given for breakfasts that exceed expectations in quality, choice and service. Rose Awards are given to individual caravans where the overall holiday parks services and facilities provide very good or exceptional levels of quality.

Silver Award

This award is given to Hotels and Guest Accommodation. It reflects a high level of quality, comfort and cleanliness in bedrooms and bathrooms with very good levels of customer care and food provision.

Gold Award

This award is given to Hotels, Guest Accommodation and Self-Catering properties. It reflects a very high level of quality. Properties achieving the Gold Award have exceptional levels of quality, comfort and cleanliness in bedrooms and bathrooms, and outstanding levels of customer care and food.

Rose Award

Caravan Holiday Homes for hire that are of a high standard are recognised by the Rose Award. These can only be found sited on 4 or 5 star Holiday Parks.

Breakfast Award

Sponsored by Kellogg’s, this award recognises those hotels and B&Bs that offer their guests a quality and choice of breakfast, service and hospitality that exceeds what would be expected at their star rating. It will help visitors find those places where the owners, managers, chefs and staff have gone the extra mile to ensure the breakfast will exceed expectations.

Wales

The Gold Award in Wales recognises; outstanding quality, exceptional comfort and unfailing hospitality.

Only the Top 2% of Hotels and guest houses achieve the award
Hotels, Guest Houses, Farmhouses, B&B's and Restaurants with Rooms achieving this standard are in the top 2% of serviced accommodation in Wales. Every Gold Standard accommodation has achieved high quality scores in their most recent quality grading assessment undertaken by independent inspectors, and confirmed through rigorous mystery customer testing.

Scotland

The Gold award in Scotland recognises serviced accommodation which consistently achieves the highest levels of excellence within their VisitScotland star grading. Accommodation achieving this award excels in the areas of customer care and hospitality and shows a real commitment to staff development and training.
