Description

Harford Bridge is a conservation award winning rural, mature park inside the Dartmoor National Park. It is bounded by the River Tavy on one side and the lane from the main road to the village of Peter Tavy on the other, with Harford Bridge, a classic granite moorland bridge, at the corner. With 16.5 acres, the park provides 120 touring pitches well spaced on a level grassy meadow with some shade from mature trees.

The site is perfectly situated for exploring Dartmoor’s ancient wilderness, Devon and the Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Climbing, horse riding and pony trekking, golf, gliding, cycling and walking are all nearby. Also, for the really active, tree surfing, mountain biking, geocaching, letterboxing, white-water and river canoeing are all on the doorstep. There are plenty of National Trust properties and other tourist attractions in the locality. The nearby town of Tavistock was voted Best Market in Britain in 2004. The amenities in the town include public swimming pool, cinema and arts centre, public transport connections and a wide choice of independent and national chain shops. The City of Plymouth is only 16 miles away.

Our 2012 Plankbridge Shepherd's Hut has a double bed, underfloor heating, fridge and stove with table and chairs inside. Outside is an awning and camping kitchen. Extra people can be accommodated in tents alongside. The hut offers warm and dry camping above ground level with a classic pastoral ambience.

Directions

Leave the M5 from Bristol at Junction 31 (after Exeter). Take the A30 and leave this at the next junction beyond Okehampton onto the A386. We are 10 miles from this point - you will see the Harford Bridge Park sign on the A386 at the turning left to Peter Tavy.

From Plymouth follow the A386 through Tavistock heading towards Okehampton. After two miles turn right for Peter Tavy, and you will see the park entrance on the right-hand side.
