Description

Dalby The Great Yorkshire Forest offers over 8,000 acres of woodland to explore and enjoy, including play areas for children, barbecues for the family and plenty of waymarked trails for all abilities.

Enjoy and explore our Visitor Centre and find out more about Dalby Forest and the surrounding area, learn about sustainable living and have fun with the hands-on interactive displays for a different learning experience.

Tree Tops Restaurant with extensive indoor and outdoor seating offer a wide range of locally sourced snacks and meals for all the family.

Dalby Courtyard has craft and business workshops, a café and cycle centre. Visitors can browse the courtyard area, have a snack or pick up a souvenir or gift.

Visitors wanting to burn off some energy can hire bikes and use the 55 miles of cycle trails to explore the forest. There is a range of cycle trails from family routes to highly technical demanding routes. For the more extreme cyclists, there is a cycle skills area at Dixon’s Hollow. Dalby Bike Barn, Dalby Courtyard, offers high quality bikes to suit all ages and abilities. For cycle hire please phone 01751 460049 www.dalbybikebarn.co.uk. If you like your excitement off the ground, try Go Ape’s adventure course, with high ropes and zip wires amongst the trees, visit www.goape.co.uk. Also try Segways for an alternative 2 wheeled experience in the forest

For a gentle and relaxing stroll within the forest you can use any of our waymarked trails. These start from several of the car parks and vary in length, so there’s something for everyone. A number of the paths are all ability being suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs. There are plenty of picnic tables that can also accommodate wheelchairs. Guide maps for the waymarked trails are available from the Visitor Centre.

For those who like to relax, there’s always a quiet corner to watch the wildlife and take in the fresh air and scenery.

Dalby Forest has a full activity and events programme throughout the year, including Concerts, Bushcraft for Beginners, Paper Making, Family Cycle Adventure days, Badger Watching, Bats and Stars and many others.

Car admission charges apply:

  • Weekly Car passes £20.00
  • Annual Car passes £42.00

Prices are per vehicle regardless of the number of people in the vehicle.

Users who walk, cycle or use the Moors Bus to enter the site will not be charged.

Directions

Dalby Forest is situated on the southern edge of the North York Moors National Park. Access is via Pickering on the A169 Pickering to Whitby Road. (Look for the brown tourist signs). Access is also possible from the north of Scarborough via minor roads through Hackness and Langdale End. Grid ref: SE855878
